The Leukerbad thermal water is one of the most productive thermal springs in the Alps - around 4 million liters per day. It mainly contains calcium and sulfate. The calcium- and sulfate-rich thermal water is traditionally used for musculoskeletal complaints.
Recommended bathing time: 20 to 30 minutes.

Our Responsibility
The Journey of a Drop
The greater story of our thermal water is told better by the Thermalquellen-Zunft and leukerbad.ch than we ever could. We tell the last leg: the one that begins with us.
Our thermal water emerges from the rock at 51 °C. It has spent decades inside the mountain — rain that fell on the Gemmi before you were born, slowly seeping down through limestone and gneiss.
The first place it arrives with us is the Hot Pot at 44 °C. Pure natural water, unfiltered, just as the Romans experienced it two thousand years ago. After that, hygiene takes over: from the second pool onwards, the water is filtered and monitored to meet regulations.
From there it moves on — from the Whirlpool at 38 °C to the Gemmiblick pool at 37 °C, then to the indoor pool at 36 °C. One degree cooler at each stage. We maintain the temperature solely with incoming fresh spring water. No heat pump, no boiler at the pools. When it is cold outside, we simply let more fresh water flow in.
And then? Everything gathers in the collection basin at 34 °C. The remaining heat goes to our heat pumps — 180 kW system output, heating three neighbouring buildings. The water leaving the heat pumps feeds the cold plunge pool and Kneipp basin at 12 °C. And whatever is finally left goes to the municipal district heating plant.
So that every drop of this precious water can be used.

Five saunas. Textile zone throughout.
The entire spa area is a textile zone - swimwear is mandatory in all areas. This makes our facility family-friendly and accessible to everyone. Saunas for ages 16 and up.

No reservation. No time limit. Included.
You go as an overnight guest without reservation and without time restrictions in thermal spas, saunas and relaxation rooms — as often and as long as you want, during opening hours. No queuing, no slot, no extra charge. This is the difference between staying overnight and visiting for the day.
